We\u2019re continuing in a series today \u2013 a series that addresses lies that even seasoned Christians believe.<\/p>\n

What was the first lie we addressed? You are alone.\u00a0<\/em>That\u2019s a lie that even seasoned Christians believe.<\/p>\n

The second lie has to do with usability.\u00a0Through various means, sometimes the enemy of your soul will tell you that you have no value. That you are unusable.\u00a0It\u2019s a lie that even seasoned Christians believe.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s lie was expressed by Billy Joel in the song My Life.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t care what you say anymore
\nThis is my life.
\nGo ahead with your own life,
\nLeave me alone.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The lie is this: This is my life<\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

And sometimes even seasoned Christians can believe it.<\/p>\n

In 1993, basketball great, Charles Barkley said these words in a Nike Commercial.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not a role model. I am not paid to be a role model. I am paid to wreak havoc on the basketball court. Parents should be role models. Just because I dunk a basketball doesn\u2019t mean I should raise your kids.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That was Barkley \u2013 pretty outspoken about such things.<\/p>\n

But not everyone agrees that athletes are not role models. Twenty years after that commercial aired, when he was playing in the NFL, Tim Tebow was asked about athletes who insist they are not role models.<\/p>\n

Tim Tebow said\u2026<\/p>\n

Yes, you are a role model, you are just not a good one.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We could debate the question of celebrity role modeling forever, but here\u2019s something on which we can probably all agree: Whenever you are visible to others, you have the potential to be an influence \u2013 for good or bad \u2013 on those who see you<\/em>.<\/p>\n
