1. God commanded Israel that those who practice sorcery should not be
permitted to live in the Kingdom.
Do not allow a sorceress to live. — Exodus 22:18
2. Seeking to communicate with spirits or with the dead is to become
defiled and unfit to worship God.
Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be
defiled by them. I am the LORD your God. — Leviticus 19:31
3. God forbids turning to mediums or spiritists.
I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and
spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off
from his people. — Leviticus 20:6
4. The punishment for these sins was death.
A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to
death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads.'"

5. Fortune telling, sorcery, interpretating omens, witchcraft, casting
spells, and communication with spirits or the dead are condemned by God.
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the
fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in
witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults
the dead. — Deuteronomy 18:10-11
6. The Canaanites lost their land because of these practices.
Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of
these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations
before you. — Deuteronomy 18:12
7. Saul was rejected for sins such as these.
For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of
idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you
as king. — 1 Samuel 15:23
8. When Saul was in tune with God, he expelled the mediums and spiritists
from the land.
Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in
his own town of Ramah. Saul had expelled the mediums and spiritists from the
land. — 1 Samuel 28:3
9. When Saul was in rebellion he consulted a medium.
He inquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him by dreams or Urim
or prophets. Saul then said to his attendants, "Find me a woman who is a
medium, so I may go and inquire of her."
"There is one in Endor,"
they said. — 1 Samuel 28:6-7
10. Although he killed the priests of God, Saul's death is attributed to
his consulting a medium.
Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD; he did not keep the word
of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance, — 1 Chronicles 10:13
11. Things done by King Manasseh were evil in God’s sight.
He sacrificed his sons in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced
sorcery, divination and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He
did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger. — 2
Chronicles 33:6
12. One of the reasons God rejected Israel was because of their eastern
superstitions and fortune telling.
You have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob. They are full of
superstitions from the East; they practice divination like the Philistines and
clasp hands with pagans. — Isaiah 2:6
13. It is insulting to God to consult the dead instead of him.
When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and
mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on
behalf of the living? — Isaiah 8:19
14. A fortuneteller could very well have a demon.
Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl
who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of
money for her owners by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and the rest
of us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who are
telling you the way to be saved." She kept this up for many days. Finally
Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In
the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" At that
moment the spirit left her. — Acts 16:16-18
15. At Ephesus, those who came to Christ renounced their magic practices.
A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and
burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total
came to fifty thousand drachmas. — Acts 19:19
16. Witchcraft is listed among the acts of the sinful nature.
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and
debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage,
selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the
like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not
inherit the kingdom of God. — Galatians 5:19-21
17. Those who practice magic arts are sentenced to the lake of fire.
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually
immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars — their
place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second
death. — Revelation 21:8
18. People who practice magic are not found in heaven.
Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral,
the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

19. The growing popularity of such occult activity is prophesied by
Scripture.
The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and
follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. — 1 Timothy 4:1
20. There is no sense in thinking that the evil side is the stronger side.
God’s existence makes evil shake with fear.
You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that —
and shudder. — James 2:19
